Snow Canyon Day 2

On the second day of the campout we hiked to these really cool lava tubes! Emma didn't use her crutches all day. It was a miracle and a really great blessing. It made the trip more fun being with her!

I've been in the Empire State Building and on top of the CN Tower, but until I was standing above those lava tubes I hadn't realized that I'm afraid of heights! Maybe it was more about being scared of going underground. I felt safer going in the smaller tube, which was weird because I wasn't claustrophobic at all. Maybe I'm losing my mind!

We ended up climbing back out of the tube because there had been a rock slide just before we arrived, and so we weren't able to climb out of the other side. We hiked a bit more to another tube which was huge and super amazing. I loved how it was cooler in temperature below ground.

We had a choice to either go on another long hike back to camp or just head back the way we came, and some of us decided to head back because we were the ones with health issues! Awesome. We missed out on a good hike, but we made up for it! On our way back, we saw this little cluster of rocks that looked like steps, and we decided to sit on them and eat. We took a ton of pictures, and then we were trying to catch grapes in our mouths! We kept missing, and they would roll down the steps. We even had a grape rolling contest. We honestly had a wonderful time, despite our health challenges.

These kids hold a very special place in my heart. This was a very simple little detour on our trip, yet it brought me so much joy. I think my love for these humans grew by a mile. I feel like we bonded more in these few minutes than we had during the entire school year. It's amazing.

This is Emma Perez, she is a wonderful human being. She always tries her best to comfort me, and I'm so grateful for that.

This is Sage, she always shows me that you can still laugh and have fun even when times are tough.

Jaden is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet! She always helps me feel better when I'm upset.

If you thought that climbing in lava tubes after spraining your ankle was impressive, try doing the splits! I love her so much.

I found that the smallest details were the most beautiful.

This tiny beautiful little thing landed on Emma, and brought me lots of happiness!

After the hike we came back and ate lunch, and then everyone else went on another hike, but we decided to stay behind. We were exhausted, but we couldn't rest in our tents because they were burning up from being in the sun all morning. Instead, we got our pillows and sleeping bags, and we took naps on the tables! Such a funny and unforgettable experience.

After dinner, we drove up to St. George, and got to have an Astronomy party hosted by Dixie State University. It was pretty cool to see the moon so close up. Coach and I had a pretty intense conversation about Interstellar. (Such a great movie, by the way.) It was lots of fun.

It was sort of a challenging night, because I was in a lot of physical pain, but I was lucky to have good friends around to cheer me up. While driving back to the camp ground, we passed the St. George Temple all light up. It was so beautiful. It was like a lighthouse in a dark world. I'm so glad that we have the gospel in our lives to light a way through our confusing lives.
