I've been thinking about the kind of person I am & who I want to be. I guess we all struggle with who we really are. I think we get caught up in the media and what others want & expect from us. We lose sight of the things that define us. That's pretty much how I've felt for a while. Once we get to the point where we've lost sight of those specific things that make us who we are, we have to do a lot of digging to figure everything out. And I've started digging!
From what I've discovered through my recent digging, I'd like the chance to reintroduce myself to whoever is reading this.
-My name is Heather.
-I'm almost 16 & this year I will be a sophomore.
-I am really nervous for school even though I know there's no need to be nervous.
-I'm really excited to start dating.
-I like reading so much, but I never read enough.
-Libraries make me so happy.
-I will wear pearl earrings with anything, always.
-I wear dresses because I love them, not because I'm trying to dress up to impress people.
-But I still like getting dressed up. :)
-I love going on bike rides.
-I like creating/editing videos even when they are dumb and not done well.
-I still like Disney Channel even if it's not as good as the Phil of the Future version of Disney Channel.
-I love to paint.
-I love power naps.
-I love that my birthday is right before Halloween.
-I like writing letters.
-I love receiving letters.
-I like The Beatles & it's not just because I think it's hip to like them.
-I'm a Blue personality.
-I love pies more than cakes.
-I re-read books because I want to pretend they didn't end.
-I like watching musicals.
-I love singing showtunes.
-I value friendships so much.
-Even if we're only sort of friends I still value that & admire you. Really.
-I'm willing to be friends with anyone even if we hardly know each other.
-I like the Dole Whip at Lagoon because it's gluten & dairy free.
-I like the slight dip in the center of my nose. (You can see it in some of my pictures.)
-I like listening to music right before I go to sleep.
-I love rainy weather.
I guess I could write a lot of other things, but those are just the ones I've been thinking about lately.
You are not others, you are you. You have your likes & dislikes, and whatever those are shouldn't be a result of someone else's opinion. Because my opinion is that you are great. And you can be who you want, but it's best to be yourself. (Even if that takes a little while to figure out.)
So maybe I don't know exactly who I am, & it's possible you're in the same boat. But you know, that's alright. You have your whole life to figure yourself out. There's no other human on this planet who is going to be with you as long as YOU are with YOU. (I'm sorry if that sounds insane, but think about it, yeah maybe your mother was with you long before you were living and breathing & outside of the womb and such, but no other person will always be with you constantly. Okay I'm done trying to explain that.)
I don't really know where I'm headed with this post, but thank you for being you. And I hope that the real me can get to know the real you.
